Folk Singer/Songwriter, troubador, activist and editorialist
Woody Guthrie fathered one of the most successful son's of American folk music:
Arlo Guthrie. Who, incidentally, fathered Sarah Lee Guthrie (another great singer/songwriter), who married Johnny Irion (yet another great singer/songwriter), and the Guthrie family legacy can just go on and on from there.
The senior Guthrie wrote some of the most important songs in American roots music history, including "This Land is Your Land," "Pastures of Plenty" and, quite literally, countless others. His daughter Nora now runs the Woody Guthrie archive and has been instrumental in getting some of Woody's lost songs recorded and updated by great contemporary folksingers.
