Seattle-based grassrockers Creeping Time have been bringing their fierce-as-lightning originals and rip-rocking covers of old time bluegrass tunes to clubs, bars, and even ski lodges around the Northwest for going on a decade.
Originally the brainchild of upright bass player Ken Nottingham, CT began in 1997 when he joined forces with percussionist Dave Forrester. The addition of fiddler Kjell Anderson in 2001 and multi-instrumentalist Michael Spaly in 2003 solidified Creeping Time’s fierce line-up, and the band took off from there.
I've had the pleasure of jamming with multi-instrumentalist Michael Spaly, who has an incredible ability to improvise the pants off any song he's presented with, and my experiences at Creeping Time shows is that the band has no real front man. All its members know when to shine and when to back off, resulting in a perfectly balanced, tightly driven organic machine of music.
